Surgical Services

When it comes to taking care of your pet, making sure they are medically healthy is one of the most important things that you can do as an owner. This includes providing your pets with the proper surgical services that are necessary when the time comes. In this article, we'll list the surgical services we offer here at Memorial Town & Country Animal Clinic and more detail about what they entail.

Spaying and Neutering

Are you worried about dealing with extra pups? Spay and neuter surgeries not only prevent unwanted litters, but also provide health benefits to animals. These procedures can also be a behavioral boon for your animals, as it makes them more docile and less aggressive.

Splenectomy

Because dogs with diseases of the spleen can develop cardiac disturbances, it might be necessary to get your animal a splenectomy. During this procedure, a ruptured or damaged spleen is removed. This can prevent the aforementioned cardiac disturbances, infections, blood clots, pancreatitis, and other issues that could rise up as a result of improper spleen function throughout the body.

Cystotomy

This is a common surgery that results in the removal of the uroliths. This occurs when your pet is having issues urinating as a result of stones or a calcified build up in the urinary tract that are not amenable to medical dissolution.

Tumor Biopsy and Removal

During a biopsy, a small portion of your animal's tumor will be removed and studied closer by a pathologist. This closer examination will determine whether the mass itself is benign or malignant. If it is benign and not obstructing any important bodily necessities, it may not be necessary to get surgery. However, if the mass is malignant, it will be imperative you have a tumor removal procedure in order to save your pet's life.

Gastrointestinal Surgical Services - Foreign Body Removal / Gastric Torsion

It's no doubt that pets, especially dogs, are prone to consuming things that are not edible. This is bound to happen and you need to be prepared for it. As a result, you'll need a specialist that can remove foreign bodies from your pets’ bodies. Dogs are also at risk for gastric torsion. This occurs when the stomach is overstretched as a result of excessive gas. Prompt treatment via a gastropexy can treat this.

Hematoma

A hematoma is a result of burst blood vessels. Our surgical services can help treat this in the common bodily areas where these are found.

Fracture Repair

Since your pet is most likely very active, the risk for fractures is very high. We have the tools that can help set fractures and heal joint pain in order to get your pet back out there and playing at the top of its game again.
